Bicyclist Killed While Crossing U.S. 19

Mark Daniel Russell, 49, of Palm Harbor, was crossing U.S. 19 just north of Curlew Road when he rode into the path of a car, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A bicyclist was killed Tuesday evening while crossing U.S. 19 in Palm Harbor.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that around 7:30 p.m, Mark Daniel Russell, 49, of Palm Harbor, was crossing U.S. 19 on his Schwinn bicycle just north of Curlew Road when he rode into the path of a 2005 Nissan Sentra driven by Kelby Michael Miksch, 36, of Palm Harbor.

Miksch was traveling northbound in the outside lane. The collision caused Russell to be thrown from his bicycle onto the roadway. He was transported to Meese Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, where he died from his injuries.
