Hurricane Grill & Wings Celebrates One Year Anniversary
The US 19 branch of this national chain is a perfect fit in Palm Harbor.
If ever a there was a match made in marketing heaven, it’s the and the town of Palm Harbor.
Not only do severe storms and Gulf Coast communities go hand in hand, but the name of the national wing chain also happens to be the nickname of the sports teams.
In the business world, that’s what they call synergy.

“We’re a family-friendly sports bar…that started in Ft. Pierce in 1995,” general manager Aaron Cook said of the Florida-based chain, which currently has 46 locations in eight states.
“But it’s a good fit here in Palm Harbor. The (Palm Harbor University High) teams come in here all the time… and we do a give-back deal where we sponsor their meals.”

The restaurant, which features 34 flavors of wings and also serves salads, wraps, burgers and quesadillas, is celebrating its one year anniversary this month; according to Cook, the business keeps getting stronger and stronger.
“We’re coming up on a year, and the business is growing. We have great crowds for karaoke on Wednesday, with $0.50 wings, and trivia on Thursday, and our weekend business is good.”
With a laid-back, marine theme, tasty meals like the honey pecan chopped chicken salad and firecracker shrimp tacos, and a number of flat screens and video games to keep patrons occupied, Hurricane Grill is like a cross between a sports bar and a beach bar.
But the main reason people come in is for the wings.
Separated into six categories, from the mild 'Calm Before the Storm' to the catastrophic 'Seek Shelter', there is truly a wing type for everybody.
And if you can’t find a favorite sauce among the likes of teriyaki glaze, mango barbecue, sea salt & vinegar and chipotle raspberry, patrons are encouraged to create their own by combining two together, called “I-flavors”.
Just be careful when selecting the Ridiculously Hot Hurricane, or XXX, sauce.
“The triple X is crazy. Everybody wants to taste it, but no one can finish it,” Cooke said. “So if you think you can handle it, come on in.”
