Palm Harbor Woman Accused of Cashing Employer's Checks

Jessica M. Lopez, 33, is charged with three counts of felony grand theft in connection with checks she allegedly cashed in the amount of $5,942.30.

A Palm Harbor woman is accused of cashing $5,942.30 worth of checks made out to her employer.

Jessica M. Lopez, 33, is charged with three counts of felony grand theft in connection with the cashed checks. 

According to an arrest affidavit, Lopez cashed the checks for her employer, even though she was not authorized to do so. When she was asked where the money was from the cashed checks, Lopez allegedly said that she put it in her desk drawer and forgot about it.

Investigators say Lopez told her employer that when she remembered the cash was in her desk, she looked in the drawer and the cash was gone. Lopez could not give an explanation as to what may have happened to the cash, according to the arrest affidavit.

The name of Lopez's employer was not listed on the arrest affidavit. She was arrested at 1410 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. N. A town was not provided on the affidavit.

Lopez was booked into the Pinellas County Jail and later released after posting $15,000 bond.
