Race for Cure St. Pete Raises Nearly $150,000 (PHOTO GALLERY)

The 5K and 10K brought in nearly $150K!

That is the tally of donations raised at the recent Race for the Cure in downtown St. Petersburg, according to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure website.

The photo gallery of participants is by Patch blogger Gene Webb, whose wife runs in the popular Race for the Cure event each year.

Komen Florida Suncoast is not just about the annual races, which are high-visibility events. There are many ways for people to get involved, find resources and give. According to the website:

Komen Race for the Cure® or another Komen event, you become part of a grassroots network that has changed the way the world talks about and treats breast cancer. You can make a difference as you celebrate survivorship, honor those who have lost their battle, and most importantly, raise funds and awareness for the fight against this life-threatening disease. There are many different ways to support Komen's mission.

The race in owntown St. Pete on Oct. 6 was community building, with many folks working hard to raise dollars toward a cure.
