Here are the top three stories today in Panama City:

  1. Bay District Schools board members have voted to make Narcan available on school grounds to qualified employees, including law enforcement officers and registered nurses, who have completed a training program approved by the Superintendent of Schools. Narcan is a medication used to reverse or reduce the effects of an opioid overdose. The new policy will take effect next school year and is designed to save lives. (WJHG)
  2. A fire in an upscale housing development was caused by a vagrant who had been living there illegally, according to local investigators. The suspect, 23-year-old Carter Adair, was identified by neighbors, and he had previously been asked to leave the River Camp campground due to a violation of the rules. The fire destroyed six buildings, including the community clubhouse, and Adair has been held accountable for the damages. (WMBB - mypanhandle.com)
  3. Patrick Kelly Jones, a 27-year-old man, has been charged with manslaughter for allegedly selling pills laced with fentanyl to William Couch, a 17-year-old boy, who later died of fentanyl toxicity. Jones's phone search history indicated that he searched for information on selling drugs that someone overdosed on the day after Couch's death, and authorities believe he unwittingly sold the pills to Couch, who thought they were legitimate pills. Jones denies selling any pills, and he is being held in the Bay County Jail on a $250,000 bond. (WMBB - mypanhandle.com)
