Here are the top three stories today in Panama City:
- The $30 million Hotel Indigo project, which began in March 2021, is nearing completion. The hotel's rooftop bar is an excellent place to watch sunsets, and it adds a Southern contemporary style to Bay County's Marina, providing 50 new jobs to the community. The St. Joe Company officials believe that the hotel will enhance the downtown district and improve the livelihood of local residents in Bay County. (WJHG)
- The Panama City Beach Police chief has reassured residents that an alleged Father's Day weekend takeover, as claimed in flyers circulating on the internet, is not happening. The police are familiar with the group responsible for the flyers, who have been loosely involved in previous spring break takeovers in the area. The police chief said that attempted takeovers in resort destinations are becoming a trend across the nation, but his team is willing to do whatever they need to keep the citizens of Panama City Beach safe. (WJHG)
- The Bay County Fourteenth Judicial Circuit recognized National Law Day by presenting the Larry G. Smith Professionalism Award to a local attorney who embodies professionalism. Timothy M. Warner, a long-time Bay County resident and founder of The Warner Law Firm, P.A., was this year's recipient. Warner expressed his faith in the justice system and highlighted the importance of professionalism among legal professionals. (WMBB - mypanhandle.com)

- Heavy rains and winds caused double red flags to be posted across area beaches over the last several days, warning people not to enter the Gulf of Mexico. Parks and Recreation Assistant Division Manager Vincent Martin urges people to research the flag system and to always be cautious of the flags, even if they're not double red, and to swim where there's a lifeguard.
