Pensacola Police say they’re issuing warnings first, but repeat offenses under the new statewide law, effective since Oct. 1, will be treated more seriously, so residents should inspect their tags now.

4. Pensacola man convicted in August '22 murder-for-hire; Duo set to be sentenced for killing (weartv.com) — A Pensacola man has been convicted in a 2022 murder-for-hire killing in Escambia County, with both he and his accomplice set for sentencing next week. Prosecutors say the victim was shot in his own home after being distracted by the accomplice, and investigators later found incriminating photos and a confession tying the crime to a drug-related arrangement.

5. A man ate at the same Florida restaurant every day for a decade. When he stopped showing up, the chef went looking for him. (cbsnews.com) — A longtime regular at the Shrimp Basket in Pensacola was rescued by the restaurant’s chef after suddenly stopping his twice-daily gumbo visits and being found injured and dehydrated at home. Staff then helped the 78-year-old secure a new apartment next to the restaurant, furnished it, and welcomed him back to his usual table, deepening a bond that now feels like family.
