(pnj.com) — Escambia County has officially dissolved the Escambia-Pensacola Human Relations Commission and is replacing its work with a new county position handling housing and employment discrimination complaints. Longtime director Al Henderson will move into the role, while Pensacola and county leaders debate whether this shift preserves the human touch residents relied on when reporting discrimination.

Get in the Game (ballingerpublishing.com) — If you’re looking to get active around Pensacola in 2026, there are plenty of adult leagues and pickup games in city parks and downtown venues, from kickball at Exchange Park to Kaboom’s bar-crawl leagues. New clubs like All-in-Sports and long-running groups such as West Florida Roller Derby and Pensacola Rowing Club are also recruiting, offering everything from ultimate frisbee to rowing and roller hockey.

US postal worker allegedly thinks kid on scooter is making off with just-delivered package — then stupidity kicks in (theblaze.com) — A child from an Escambia County home was hurt after a postal worker allegedly drove toward his scooter while he was trying to redirect a misdelivered package, with treatment provided at Studer Family Children’s Hospital in Pensacola. Authorities say the worker was later arrested and faces multiple charges, while troopers stress the situation could have been avoided with a simple conversation.
   

4. Former Baldwin County Public Schools employee indicted on sex trafficking charge in Pensacola: DOJ (wdhn.com) — Federal prosecutors say a man from Alabama has been indicted on multiple sex-crime charges after allegedly traveling to Pensacola to meet who he believed was a 14-year-old girl, but was actually an undercover officer. He was arrested upon arrival in Pensacola and now faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison if convicted, with trial set for February 17.
   

5. Venezuelan business owner in Pensacola sees capture of Maduro 'as first step for freedom' (weartv.com) — Pensacola’s Venezuelan community is sharply divided over the U.S.-led capture of Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro, with some local immigrants celebrating it as a long-awaited step toward freedom and others warning it’s dangerous foreign interference. A Pensacola restaurant owner who fled political persecution is thrilled, while an organizer with the Pensacola Liberation Center fears it could push the U.S. toward wider conflict.
