• New Palafox Project Begins Monday In Downtown Pensacola (northescambia.com) — Major changes are coming to downtown Pensacola as the $10.7 million New Palafox project kicks off Monday, bringing round-the-clock construction, wider sidewalks, brick intersections, new trees, and upgraded stormwater systems. While work runs 24/7 through late 2026, all storefronts, pedestrian crossings, and hundreds of nearby free parking spaces will remain accessible so residents and visitors can still reach downtown businesses. 
• Francis Patrelle, Founder of a Ballet Company, Dies at 78 (nytimes.com) — Renowned New York ballet teacher and choreographer Francis Patrelle died in a Pensacola hospital on Dec. 27 at age 78, after retiring to nearby Navarre. The longtime founder of Dances Patrelle and creator of the “Yorkville Nutcracker” is remembered for championing story ballets and nurturing generations of dancers with his supportive, deeply personal teaching style.
