Construction to Begin on Vina Del Mar Bridge
The work should be completed by August before school resumes. There will be lane closures.

Today construction is set to begin on the Vina Del Mar Bridge in St. Pete Beach.
According to the city, the work will involve sporadic lane closures throughout the project.
The city said work on the bridge deck will be given first priority so it can be completed prior to school resuming in August.
After work on the bridge deck is complete, the city said the contractor would begin scheduled work beneath the bridge using a barge.
That work is scheduled to begin in late August or early September.
According to the city's RFP for the project, the construction includes repair and replacement of pilings and joints along the bridge.
Construction Work:
- Repair uneven transitions at bridge joints
- Remove excess hardened concrete on bridge deck
- Replace compression joint seals
- Repairing cracks in pile jackets
