Family Seek Answers In Death Of Mother Of 4 Found Dead On Christmas

TAMPA, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking tips in the death of a mother of four who was found on the shoulder of Interstate 75 just south of the Dale Mabry Highway exit on Christmas Day.

According to troopers, 29-year-old Stephanie Contreras, originally from Plant City and most recently living in Dover, was found just after 7 a.m. Sunday by a Florida Department of Transportation road ranger.

Troopers said she was unresponsive and had a significant head injury as well as road rash throughout her body from being dragged across the pavement. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Contreras leaves behind four children including an 8-year-old daughter, 2-year-old twin daughters and a 1-year-old son.
