Busy Week Ahead in The Harbor

The week begins with the swearing in of Mayor Joe Ayoub and ends with an appearance by Jane Seymour at Syd Entel Galleries.

Just because the holidays are over doesn't mean there isn't a lot going on in Safety Harbor.

The first full week back to work and school following the winter break features a number of activities and events, and even an inauguration, to help everyone get over the post-holiday blues.

Here's a sample of some of the happenings in town this week:

Monday:Β Tonight is coronation night at City Hall, as new mayor Joe Ayoub and city commissioner Richard Blake get sworn inΒ during the city commission meeting. A new vice mayor will also be named, as well as a new appointee to the planning and zoning board. The meeting starts at 7:30.

Tuesday:Β Four of the downtown bars host fun events this evening - Ladies Night at Copperheads Tap House; live music with TJ and friends at 8th Avenue Pub; fly fishing night at Bar Fly; and trivia night at Nolan's Pub.

Wednesday: Open mic nightΒ for the Safety Harbor Writers and Poets Group takes place at 7 p.m. tonight. Note the new venue - it's now being held at Tapping the Vine.

Thursday:Β Have you been to the Farmer's Market downtown yet? It takes places every Thursday from 9am - 1:30pm at John Wilson Park. Later in the evening, the fantastic drum circle takes place in the park's gazebo, so you can just camp out all day and evening!

Friday: There's no big downtown event this week, so why not enjoy some good food, fine wine and smooth jazz with Amy Morgan at Cafe Orlando?

Saturday: What better way to cap off the week than seeing a big-time celebrity right here in Safety Harbor? World renowned actress, artist and spokesperson Jane Seymour is appearing at Syd Entel Galleries to promote her original artwork this weekend. She will be at the Main Street gallery on Saturday and Sunday for appearances and receptions. Contact the gallery at 727-725-1808 for more information.
