Christmas Tree Disposal for Safety Harbor

Residents can recycle their Christmas tree just by leaving it at the curb.

Safety Harbor residents looking to recycle their Christmas tree can get rid of it just by leaving it at the curb.

According to the Pinellas County website, you can leave your unadorned tree separate from the other trash on the day of your typical bulk or brush collection day and it will be recycled.

For Safety Harbor, that day is Wednesday, according to this chart. For those of you who wait until after New Years Day to toss the tree, that works perfectly since the holiday falls on a Tuesday.

The country has a list of preparations to follow before you set your tree out:

  • Make sure to clean the tree first by taking off all the lights, tinsel, hooks and ornaments.
  • Leave the tree loose - do not put it in a bag, box or trash can.
  • Make sure there is free access to the tree. For apartment and condo residents, leave the tree near the dumpster.

According to the county, the trees will be chopped up and made into mulch, which will be available for free from any of 20 different sites. Safety Harbor's site is located at the Public Works Department at 1200 Railroad Ave.
