Fire Department Honors Safety Harbor Elementary Students
Three lucky winners chosen from nearly 500 entries to an art contest will get a ride to school on a fire engine on Tuesday.
The Safety Harbor Fire Department furtheredΒ its special relationship with the community on Friday, honoring a host of Safety Harbor Elementary School students for their entries in an annual art contest.Β
With nearly 500 kids from kindergarten through third grade submitting fire department related posters for the contest, choosing the lucky winners was a difficult task, according to Fire Marshal Richard Brock.Β
βThere were a lot of good entries this year,β he admitted. βIβm glad I didnβt have to make the final decision!βΒ

βTuesday morning at around 8:30, the winners will arrive at the fire station (#52) and they will be driven to school on a fire engine,β Brock announced to the crowd.Β
βAnd their winning pictures will be placed on display at City Hall,β he added.
After the presentation, there was an open house at the station house, where all the artwork was on display and anyone could take pictures, enjoy refreshments and learn more about the fire department.Β
βWe have a special relationship with the people of Safety Harbor,β Brock said.
βWe like to do more to show our appreciation for what a great community we live in, and what better way to do it than by giving kids a ride to school on a fire engine?β
