Gas Leak at Mobil Station in Safety Harbor, Officials Say

No injuries are reported at the McMullen Booth Road gas station, but a portion of Enterprise Road nearby has been shut down.

UPDATE Friday, Mar 15, 2013: The manager of the Mobil station, Nover Astfanous, said the closure resulted from workers rupturing a gas line while they were digging on the property. Astfanous said the station was closed for two hours while repairs were made, and the gas company was coming back on Friday to replace the damaged line. He thanked the emergency crews for their speedy response and everyone for being patient during the difficult situation.

Officials are on the scene of a reported natural gas leak at a McMullen Booth Road gas station in Safety Harbor.

There are no reported injuries at the Mobil station at 2495 McMullen Booth Rd., according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

Enterprise Road is blocked off from McMullen Booth to about 100 yards west as sheriff's deputies and officials from Safety Harbor Fire Department are on the scene investigating.

Clearwater Gas is also on scene fixing the leak, officials said.

Traffic delays are expected to be short lived, according to a sheriff's office spokesperson.
