Giant ‘Junk in the Trunk’ Yard Sale Today

Are you a garage sale junkie who spends the better part of a weekend scouring neighborhoods for precious finds and terrific deals? Then ‘Junk in the Trunk’ is like a dream come true for you.

The enormous community yard sale takes place from 9am–1pm today at the Safety Harbor Community Center, and it features a wide variety of items from local organizations and residents. 

“We have 50 participants this year – we’re sold out again,” Safety Harbor recreation manager Kelliann Gerlach said. “We probably could’ve sold 20 more spots, we got so many applications this time.” 

This is fourth year the semi-annual event has taken place in the parking lot of the Community Center, and it is always popular with participants as well as the patrons. 

“It’s like they say, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure,” Gerlach said. 

In addition to residents who are looking to clear out their closets or garages, organizations such as Safety Harbor Little League and local Boy Scout troops utilize the event as a fundraiser for their groups.

Gerlach also said that any items left at the end of the sale are donated to Goodwill, so no one has to bring any unwanted junk back to their homes afterwards.

“It benefits buyers, sellers and Goodwill,” she added.
