Healing In the Harbor a Huge Success
The inaugural holistic health expo drew big crowds and raves from vendors and organizers alike.
If you caught sight of Caryl Dennis on Saturday afternoon, she was probably smiling from ear to ear.
What was the reason for her enthusiasm? Healing in the Harbor, the holistic health event that she had envisioned for years, not only had finally come together, but it was being hailed as a huge success by all those involved.
So it was understandable the local psychic and renowned colorist couldn’t contain her excitement, especially when participants were already calling for another one before the first one was even over.

“Wow. We did it,” Dennis said shortly after leaving the Gazebo stage following her afternoon presentation.
“I’m so tickled with the turnout," she added. "It tells me it was obviously time for this in the community. There was a need for this here.”

Judging by the amount of vendors, the number of people walking around John Wilson Park, and the overall interaction of the guests with the merchants, Dennis was absolutely right.
Everywhere you looked people were getting massages, talking to healers, purchasing food, vitamins and merchandise and listening to speakers and teachers, trying to learn more about holistic health.
Kathy Wagner, a gemstone dealer from Palm Harbor, said she couldn’t have been more pleased with the event.
“It’s been fantastic,” she said as patrons browsed her selection of “positive energy” pendants. “We need to do this every year. I’m so proud to be a part of this phenomenal event.”
A weary Regina Aamacha of Fleur de Lis Café was also thrilled with the event.
“I’ve sold out of basically all my food,” she said. “I’m exhausted, but glad to see such a great turnout.”
Healing in the Harbor co-organizer and sponsor Julie Brannon of Bailey’s Naturals reflected on everything as she took a breather from her emcee duties.
“I’m astonished and delighted at the turnout,” she said. “When you plan an event you always have a great hope it will turn out well, but you never know.”
“It’s like planning a party and nobody shows up. Today, everybody showed up.”
As for the next Healing in the Harbor? Dennis was cautiously optimistic.
“I might do another one in the fall,” she said. “But let’s wait till this one’s over first!”
