Inaugural Healing In The Harbor Event Slated For April

The holistic health expo will feature more than forty vendors with one common goal: to promote healthy bodies, minds and spirits.

Six years ago, Caryl Dennis had a vision.

Shortly after the psychic counselor and author moved to Safety Harbor, she saw a place on Main Street that she felt would be ideal for a holistic healing event.

This spring Dennis will see her vision become a reality when the inaugural Healing in the Harbor event takes place on Saturday, April 6 at the Gazebo at John Wilson Park.

“Healing in the Harbor is the culmination of a vision I had six years ago when I moved here,” said Dennis, who has authored books on colorology and children born with psychic abilities.

“I saw the Gazebo and I thought this would be a perfect place for a holistic event.”

Dennis, working with several local business and organizations, finally got her idea off the ground, and she is excited to bring this healing event to Safety Harbor this year.

According to Dennis, the free expo will offer a broad range of holistic practitioners, information and merchandise, along with skilled psychic readers, energy healers, healthy food vendors and live entertainment.

Proceeds from the event will go towards the Safety Harbor Art and Music Center. Attendees are also encouraged to bring canned food donations to be given to the Mattie Williams Neighborhood Family Center.

The entire event is geared towards “bringing balance and harmony to the mind, body and spirit.”

“This is a healing community,” Dennis said of Safety Harbor, known for its therapeutic mineral springs. “It makes sense to have an event like this here.”

Julie Brannon of Bailey’s Naturals, one of the event’s sponsors, concurs with Dennis that Safety Harbor needed to host an event of this nature.

“It’s about time we had something like this in town,” Brannon said from her Second Street North shop. “We have a reputation to uphold here for natural healing. (Safety Harbor) is known for that.”

Brannon believes having an event such as this will help break stereotypes of holistic healing and encourage those who have been leery about the practices to become better informed.

“It’s important because it’s a one-stop shop for people who are intimidated or don’t know where to go for holistic modalities,” she said. “It’s a buffet of natural therapies for someone who might be curious but never acted on it.”
