Parts of Main Street Closed For Parking Space Re-Striping

The work will take place over the course of two weekends. The road will not be closed while the work is completed.

If you head downtown this weekend, be prepared to look for alternate places to park.

Parking spaces along Main Street will be closed off this weekend and one weekend in February while the city re-stripes the parking spaces along the thoroughfare, according to city officials.

"The City is going to re-stripe the parking areas. The weekends are January 26-27 and February 9-10," City Manager Matt Spoor said via email.

"They will do one half of the road the first weekend and the second half the other weekend so that cars have a place to park."

Alternative parking can be found along adjacent side streets and in public lots behind the Harbour Pointe complex at the corner of 2nd Avenue South and across from City Hall on 8th Avenue South.
