RNC Delivers Diners to Downtown Eatery

A Tennessee Republican Party official has helped draw delegates to Green Springs Bistro.

Green Springs Bistro may be β€œoff the beaten path” when it comes to the downtown district, but with its excellent Gulf Coast cuisine and quaint, comfortable atmosphere, it doesn’t have a problem drawing diners.Β

And thanks to an official partnerhip with the Tennessee Republican Party, Green Springs has been enjoying a boost in business while the state’s delegates are staying at the nearby Safety Harbor Resort & Spa.

β€œTaylor Tompkins, the assistant to the Chairman of the Tennessee Republican Party, and other officials came into the restaurant a couple of months ago, and we got to know them pretty well,” co-owner Kris Kubik said.Β

β€œThen she came in right before the conference started and…asked us to send her our information for a newsletter she was sending out to the delegates in advance of their arrival.”

That advance scouting, plus a push by the Safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce to promote area businesses, helped put Green Springs on the Tennessee Republican Party map.

As a result, Kubik says she has seen a huge influx of business thanks to the convention.Β

β€œWe were real busy the opening weekend. There were a lot of delegates here,” she said. β€œWe were told to expect a busy opening weekend and a busy closing weekend, because they (the delegates) would be so busy in between.”

Kubik said the guests β€œreally, really enjoyed the sausage with shrimp and grits and all the local seafood” Green Springs offers.

And she echoed the sentiments of many local business owners in praising the attitude and of the delegates and party officials.

β€œThe advance crews worked really well with the local community...and Taylor has been great.”

β€œAnd everyone who has come in were truly the sweetest people,” she added. β€œTennessee is welcome back any time.”
