Safety Harbor Stars Show Up For Nantucket Bucket Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The Safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce after hours mixer turned into a who's who of community movers and shakers Tuesday night, as dozens of local luminaries showed up to welcome a new member to the club.

Mayor Andy Steingold, Vice Mayor Joe Ayoub and chamber chairperson Marie Padavich were a few of the officials who showed up at the Nantucket Bucket for a ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome the new seafood restaurant to the growing legion of Safety Harbor businesses.

In the brief ceremony, owner Russ Latimer took a giant pair of golden scissors and sliced his way into the fold.

"Russ came to me about five years ago wanted to put a Thirsty Marlin downtown," Padavich told the assembled crowd. "That didn't work out, but he was persistent."

"We think this place is a wonderful addition to the area."

After the ribbon was cut and the plaque was handed over to Latimer, those in attendance were treated to free drinks and appetizers, as business owners and residents mingled with city commissioners and community leaders.

Latimer acknowledged the large turnout and impressive guest list while everyone sampled his food.

"It's very nice to have the city officials here, along with prominent members of the chamber," he said.

"Everyone has been great to me from the beginning. It's nice to finally be a part of the community."
