‘Stache Dash Set For Saturday Night

The pub crawl will hit four downtown bars with one rule for participants: you must wear a mustache!

Ladies and gentlemen of Safety Harbor, start your mustaches!

The first annual Safety Harbor ‘Stache Dash will invade the downtown district Saturday night, with organizers expecting upwards of 100 people to participate.

Four bars are included in the crawl route – Whistle Stop, 8th Avenue Pub, Copperheads Tap House and Nolan’s Pub – but in order to participate, you have to follow the one rule of the event.

“You must be wearing a mustache to get the specials,” organizer Gina Logan said. “Grow it, draw it or paste it on and show up at the Whistle Stop at 7 p.m.”

Logan, the wife of Planning and Zoning Board chair Chris Logan, said she came up with the idea for the event after spotting a group full of mustachioed partygoers on Clearwater Beach a few months ago.

Having organized a couple of crawls outside of Safety Harbor in the past, she decided to turn her attention to her own town and host a ‘stache dash right here.

“We love Safety Harbor and we’re big supporters of the businesses and the community,” she said. “We thought it would be a cool, fun idea.”

Apparently many other Harborites share the Logan's enthusiasm for pub crawls, mustaches or both.

Gina Logan said she expected roughly 50 people to sign up, but so far the number of attendees has reached 70 and counting.

“I talked to the bar owners and told them to expect 50 people. I hope they don’t get upset if there’s a lot more than that,” she said.

“I had no idea this many people in town liked mustaches.”
