What's Open in Safety Harbor on New Years Eve

Since our "What's Open in Safety Harbor" pieces on Thanksgiving and Christmas were so popular, I knew I better produce a list of places where Harborites can ring in the New Year in town.

So I traveled to the furthest corners of the community, from McMullen Booth Road to the east end of Main Street, and came up with this comprehensive guide.

As all-encompassing as this handy list is, I might have missed a place or two; if you notice I left any place out, please let me know in the comments below.

Open, with Special Menus:

• Green Springs Bistro - in addition to a couple of special menu items, talented local guitarist Michael Rusch will be playing throughout the evening. Hours: 5:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. 727-669-6762
• Nantucket Bucket - a special menu for two, which includes soup, salad, main meal, dessert and wine or champagne, all for $64.95 per couple. Hours: 4 p.m. - 8 p.m., reservation only. 727-487-5000
• Parts of Paris - the French bistro will offer a pair of prixe fixe meals, which will include appetizers, entrees and desserts. Reservations required, currently booked up til 9:30 p.m. 727-797-7979
• Cafe Orlando - will be open, unsure of hours or menu at press time

Open, with Special New Years Eve Stuff:

• 8th Avenue Pub - will be live-streaming the "Phish" concert outside, while dance music will be rocking inside. Pizza will be served until midnight, and then a free breakfast buffet will be available. Drink specials, no cover. 727-799-1105
• Harbor Bar - it's Casino Night, featuring Black Jack, Texas Hold 'Em and a free champagne toast for all patrons at midnight. 727-726-8044
• Norton's Eastside Sports Bar & Grill - located in the Oakbrook Plaza, they're having a big shindig on New Years Eve with drink specials, free darts and pool and a free champagne toast at midnight. 727-474-3717

Open, with Normal or Shortened Hours:

• Bar Fly - the Main Street hot spot will be open for regular hours, 4:30 p.m. - 1 a.m., while the kitchen at the new Saltwater Grillwill close at midnight. Live music from Wayback Machine, no cover. 727-400-4790
• Southern Fresh - normal operating hours, 11 a.m. - 10 p.m., with the regular menu; each diner will receive a free glass of champagne with their order
• Copperheads Tap House - regular hours (2 p.m. - 2 a.m.), live music, drink specials
• Whistle Stop - will close at 8 p.m.
• Brady's Backyard BBQ - may close early (normally open until 10 p.m.)
• Beef O' Brady's - will close at 7 p.m.

Closed:

• Tapping the Vine
• Fleur de Lis Patio Cafe
• Cello's Charhouse
• Nolan's Pub (reservations only, already booked)
