What to Know If You Go: 3rd Friday January 2013

The first downtown arts and music festival of the New Year has an animal friendly theme.

Happy New Year, Harborites!

Yes, we know we actually celebrated the holiday three weeks ago, but tonight marks the first 3rd Friday of the new year, so why not party like it's 2013 all over again?

The theme of this month's event is 3rd "Fur"day, so you can guess what it's all about — animals!

According to Safety Harbor special events supervisor Joe Cooper, patrons are encouraged to bring their pooches, parrots and other pets to the Main Street festival.

There will be several animal rescue organizations participating in the event as well, including: Save Our Strays; Labrador Rescue; Greyhound Rescue; Humane Society; and the Suncoast Animal League. Pet Supplies Plus is the sponsor.

In addition to the animal theme, there will be the usual live music, arts & crafts vendors, food and drink sales and businesses staying open later to accommodate the crowd. Also, up-and-coming local singer Carmen Brandy will be playing a live set on the Crispers patio.

The beneficiary of this month's event is the Elena Tresh Foundation.

Hope to see you out there, Harborites!
