What Will Happen to Captain’s Pizza?
The Main Street pizza place is for sale following a recent closure. What type of business would you like to see there?
It's official - Captain’s Pizza is for sale.
The signs in the window of the iconic Main Street structure say so, and so does the real estate agent who was once tasked with selling the building that has been home to the pizza joint for the past 30 years.
According to Mark Ganier, the owners asked him to find a buyer shortly after word came out that the eatery had to shut down after being cited for more than 70 critical health code violations.

“Steve’s daughter came to me three days after he fell, and one week later I had it on the market,” Gainer told Safety Harbor Patch.
It was reported that owner Steve Capitano fell while making repairs to the building to help it get up to code following the closure.

But according to Ganier, a RE/MAX agent out of Boot Ranch, he was soon told to stop pursuing deals for the property because a contract was already being held on the building.
“I got a letter from the family’s lawyer telling me to cease and desist trying to sell the place, because there was already a contract on it."
"I've turned down showing it because I don't want to work for free," he admitted. "It's out of my hands now."
The potential new owners of the property did not wish to comment on the matter until the deal is finalized.
But no matter what happens, it looks as if Captain’s Pizza, a landmark spot in the downtown dining scene, will be home to a different business sometime in the future.
What do you think about Captain's closing, and what business would you like to see go in there?
