What You Need To Know: New Years Eve in Safety Harbor

It's the last day of 2012, and many Harborites will be heading out to celebrate in one form or another.

Whether you like to ring in the new year with a roomful of people you don't know, or enjoy a quiet, romantic evening out with your partner, there are plenty of options to choose from in and around Safety Harbor.

A few days ago we published this comprehensive guide to what's happening around town as we prepare to ring in the New Year.

From special dinners to casino nights, the bars and restaurants in town pretty much have everything covered when it comes to celebrating locally.

If you're thinking about venturing out of the Harbor to find a place to sing "Auld Lang Syne," Patch also came up with a list of some of the more popular parties taking place in Pinellas County, from Clearwater to Sunset Beach.

But with all these activities going on, don't forget to be safe and assign a designated driver or call a cab when you're out reveling, no matter what town you are in.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, there will be a heavy police presence on Bay area roadways this evening, and they are urging motorists to act cautiously.

“Plan for a designated driver, party at home or plan to party at places where you don’t have to drive home,” FHP Sgt. Steve Gaskins advised.
