1 Dead In Sarasota Hotel Fire: Police

SARASOTA, FL — One person was killed in a Wednesday morning fire at a Sarasota hotel, authorities said.

Officers responded to the fire at Baymont by Wyndham Sarasota, 1425 S. Tamiami Trail, just after 9 a.m., Sarasota police said.

When they arrived, a man was found injured in a hotel room by police and Sarasota County Emergency Services.

He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is leading the investigation into the fire, police said.
