2 Women Killed Days Apart On North Tamiami Trail: Sarasota PD
Sarasota police said the first woman was found dead on North Tamiami Trail on Feb. 25. A second woman's body was found not long after.
SARASOTA, FL — The Sarasota Police Department is investigating two homicides that recently occurred on North Tamiami Trail.
According to police, on Friday, Feb. 25, a 48-year-old Sarasota woman was found dead near the Centennial Park boat ramp along the 1000 block of North Tamiami Trail just before 5 p.m.
On Thursday, March 10, police said a 59-year-old Sarasota woman was found dead near the 1900 block of North Tamiami Trail near the shore of Whitaker Bayou just before 4 p.m.

Police said it’s unknown if the two women knew one another or if the suspect (or suspects) knows the victims.
"The identities of the women are protected under Marsy’s Law," police said in a news release. "Additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding these deaths are under investigation."

As information becomes available, the Sarasota Police Department said it will release it to the public.
Increased patrols by police officers are happening throughout Sarasota including along North Tamiami Trail, police said.
"Residents and visitors are asked to remain vigilant and be aware of their surroundings. As always, if you see something suspicious, say something and contact law enforcement immediately," police said.
