30,533 Florida Cases Of Coronavirus; 1,046 Deaths

TALLAHASSEE, FL — Florida crossed two new milestones Friday as the number of confirmed coronavirus cases rose to 30,533 and deaths for the first time surpassed the 1,000 mark.

The number of coronavirus cases in Florida was up by 885 Friday night over the previous 24-hour period as the death toll from the virus rose to 1,046 in Florida.

Twenty-one of Florida's 67 counties reported deaths as of Friday night. The deaths reflect 59 more people who lost their battle with the virus over the previous 24-hour period in Florida.
Miami-Dade reported 17 new deaths Friday. Broward County reported five new deaths. Palm Beach County reported 11 new deaths. Lee County reported four more deaths.

Charlotte County reported two new deaths as did Clay County and St. Lucie County.
Manatee County reported three new deaths. Duval County, which reopened its beaches a week ago, reported one new death.
Escambia County also reported one new death as did Suwannee County, Collier County, Lake County, Marion County, Orange County, Pasco County, Pinellas County, Polk County, Seminole County and Volusia County. Jefferson County reported its second death from the virus.
The state had a 9.5 percent positive test rate out of total 320,984 tests. Many of Florida's cases have come from 335 long-term elder care facilities. Health officials said those facilities account for 2,682 cases and 296 deaths involving residents or staff.
Miami-Dade reported a total of 10,926 confirmed cases, more than any other county. Miami-Dade, which includes Miami and Miami Beach, is considered the epicenter of Florida's outbreak along with Broward and Palm Beach. The three counties have accounted for some 60 percent of all of the state's cases.
Nearby Broward County, which includes Fort Lauderdale, reported 4,591 cases. Palm Beach County, which includes West Palm Beach, reported 2,600 cases.
Hillsborough County, which includes Tampa, reported 1,022cases as of Thursday. Orange County, which includes Orlando, reported 1,290 cases.
