82-Year-Old Woman Killed Crossing Street In Sarasota County

SARASOTA, FL — An 82-year-old woman was killed crossing the street Sunday in Sarasota County, according to Lt. Greg Bueno of Florida Highway Patrol. The woman was identified as Joan Malcomson.

Bueno said the incident happened around 4:10 p.m. at U.S. 41 and Myakka Drive. The Venice woman was struck by a 2016 Toyota Corolla that was driven by 36-year-old Keith Tulloch of Northport, Florida.

The Corolla was traveling south on U.S. 41 in the right lane north of the intersection of
Myakka Drive.

Malcomson was attempting to cross US-41 from west to east, north of
the intersection of Myakka Drive. Bueno said alcohol was not suspected.

"As vehicle 1 passed Myakka Drive, pedestrian 1 failed to observe vehicle 1 approaching, and entered the right southbound lane of U.S. 41," according to Florida Highway Patrol. "The front of
vehicle 1 struck pedestrian 1."
