After Irma: Sarasota's Building Division Continues to Waive Fees, Fast Track Permits
The Building Division in the city of Sarasota provides list of categories for storm-related emergency permits after Irma.

SARASOTA - The city of Sarasota’s Building Division will continue to waive fees and fast track emergency permits related to Hurricane Irma. Residents seeking an emergency permit are encouraged to photograph the damage which requires emergency repair as soon as possible. Since announcing on Sept. 13 that all storm-related emergency building permits would be expedited and fees waived, 19 emergency permits have been issued.
City officials said emergency permits will be issued for: remasting on buildings, electric meter cans, sewer lines on private property, roofs, fences, tree removal and signs.
Due to varying requirements with permits, residents are encouraged to visit the Building Division in person to work with a staff member on any application. To qualify as an emergency, the application must state that the work is related to Hurricane Irma damage.
“We strongly encourage people to take photos of the damage now so there is no question that it was Irma related,” said Tim Litchet, Neighborhood Services director. “That will help ensure the emergency permit is approved in a timely manner and the associated fees waived.”
