
The Sarasota Concert Association is pleased to present pianist Grigorios Zamparas, in a Munchtime Musicales performance, Feb. 15, noon, at Cohen Hall, Beatrice Friedman Symphony Center, 709 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.
For this concert, Zamparas will perform an all-sonata program, including Haydn’s Piano Sonata No. 21 in F major, Beethoven’s Sonata in C minor Op. 111, and Liszt’s B minor Sonata.

Grigorios Zamparas has received critical acclaim for his versatile performing career as recitalist, orchestra soloist and chamber musician in Greece, Bulgaria, former Yugoslavia, Russia, Latin America, South Korea and the US.

He is a frequent guest at numerous festivals worldwide, having performed several times at the prestigious Newport Music Festival, the Mainly Mozart Festival, The Artist Series of Sarasota, and The Salon of the Arts (Sofia, Bulgaria), among others.
He has been featured as a soloist in more than 20 different piano concerti with such orchestras as the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra (Brazil), Indiana University Symphony Orchestra, Boston Neo-Politan Chamber Orchestra, Togliati Philharmonic (Russia), the Sofia Soloists (Bulgaria) and the B. Martinu Philharmonic of the Czech Republic, to name a few.

Dr. Zamparas is assistant professor of music at The University of Tampa, where he oversees the piano program. He is also the pianist with the Trio de Minaret, a chamber music ensemble in residence at the university. He began studying music at the age of seven in Greece, where he received his first piano degree in 1995, studying with the distinguished Greek pedagogue Yorgos Manessis.
The 2012 concert season continues with Studio Artists from the Sarasota Opera, performing well-known arias and duets (March 21, 2012); and the Sarasota Wind Quintet from the Sarasota Orchestra (April 18, 2012).

SCA’s 2012 "Great Performers"
SCA’s 2012 "Great Performers" concert series continues with acclaimed American baritone Thomas Hampson (January 30, 2012); Russian pianist Kirill Gerstein (February 16, 2012); and renowned violin soloist Midori, with conductor Osmo Vänskä and the Minnesota Orchestra (March 7, 2012).
The season concludes with the Northwest German Philharmonic, conducted by Eugene Tzigane, with cellist Amit Peled (March 18, 2012). SCA’s "Great Performers" concerts are at 8 p.m. (except for the March 18 concert at 4 p.m.) at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 777 North Tamiami Trail in Sarasota.
