
The , 1845 34thStreet, will celebrate its one year anniversary this Labor Day weekend with two events, including a 3-on-3 basketball tournament and a ‘Unity in the Community’ family fun day. The basketball tournament on Saturday, Sept. 1, is open to the public and includes a $30 registration fee per team.

The weekend festivities will kick-off with a 3-on-3 basketball tournament Saturday, September 1 starting at 9 a.m. The tournament will include t-shirts and prizes. There is a $30 registration fee per team. Teams are divided into age, grade level and gender:

- Ages 6-7, 8-9, 10-11 (co-ed teams allowed)
- Ages 12-14 (girls’ teams and boys’ teams)
- Grades 9-12 (girls’ teams and boys’ teams)
- Adults ages 18-25 (women’s teams and men’s teams)
- Adults ages 26 & up (women’s teams and men’s teams)
Concessions and water stations will be available.

The tournament is sponsored by Keith E. DuBose of Matthews Eastmoore and Matt Sperling of Raymond James of St. Armands Circle.
Two days later, on Labor Day, Monday, September 3 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex will host the Unity Games filled with recreational activities including:
- Volleyball
- Family Kickball
- Carnival Games
- Bounce Houses
- Children’s Crafts
Complimentary food also will be available at the event. The Labor Day unity games are sponsored by Matt Sperling of Raymond James on St. Armands Circle and the City of Sarasota.
The Robert L. Taylor Community Complex opened Labor Day weekend 2011. The complex offers a wide range of recreational activities and organized exercise classes at affordable rates.
