FL Armed Burglary Suspect Arrested In NY After Months On The Run
A Sarasota-area fugitive wanted on armed robbery charges was arrested in upstate NY after seven months on the run, sheriff's office said.

YATES COUNTY, NY — After months on the run, a Sarasota-area fugitive was arrested in upstate New York, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Facebook post.
Jacques Gentis, 21, was taken into custody with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service and other agencies. He is being held in Yates County Jail before being returned to Florida.
Gentis evaded Sarasota County deputies during the execution of an arrest warrant on Jan. 24, sparking a months-long pursuit involving more than 10 search warrants and 25 subpoenas, as well as numerous Crime Stopper tips, the sheriff’s office said.

SCSO had multiple outstanding warrants for Gentis, including four for armed burglary and one for shooting a missile into a structure, the agency said. He also had one outstanding warrant in Charlotte County.

Ahead of his Aug. 28 capture, the SCSO Fugitive Apprehension Unit learned that Gentis was in New York after a vehicle sighting.
He was taken into custody without incident.
