Driver Charged With DUI Weeks After Fatal FL Crash Left Passenger Dead
A Bradenton driver was charged with DUI in an April crash that left one of his passengers dead, FL Highway Patrol said.

SARASOTA, FL — The driver in an April crash that left one of his passengers dead is accused of driving under the influence, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
Kevin Hernando-Alonso, 21, of Bradenton was arrested Monday “after an exhausted criminal investigation” and charged with DUI manslaughter, FHP said.
The single-vehicle crash happened in the early morning hours of April 19 on Northgate Boulevard.

Hernando-Alonso was speeding west on Northgate Boulevard, near Independence Boulevard, around 2:45 a.m, when he lost control of his car, traveled off the road and hit a tree, troopers said.

The rear passenger, a 21-year-old Bradenton man who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hernando-Alonso and his front passenger, also a 21-year-old Bradenton man, suffered only minor injuries in the crash. Both were wearing their seatbelts.
