Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota's December Programs Feature Talent from Young Concerts Artists
Esteemed YCA alumni and current talent perform in two December concerts
Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota presents two concerts in December, both of which feature the talent of Young Concert Artists (YCA), a New York City-based artist management company dedicated to discovering and advancing the careers of young classical musicians from around the world. YCA on Tour, which showcases current YCA talent and esteemed alumni, is December 9 at First Congregational Church. YCA on Tour is an extraordinary chamber music touring ensemble made up of current talent of Young Concert Artists and esteemed alumni from the YCA family. This unique initiative brings together the brightest emerging musicians and the seasoned veterans who have already made a significant impact in the classical music world: Risa Hokamura, violin; Oliver Neubauer, violin; Toby Appel, viola; James Baik, cello; and Bennett Tsai, cello. Their program – December 9, 7:30 p.m. at First Congregational Church – features Franz Schubert’s poignant String Quintet in C major for two cellos, his final chamber work. Tickets are $50 for general seating and $70 for VIP seating.
Morning Song continues the Lunch and Listen series on December 18, 11:00 a.m. at the Sarasota Yacht Club. Mezzo soprano Erin Wagner and tenor Daniel McGrew – two outstanding Young Concert Artists – will be accompanied by Sarasota Opera pianist Jesse Martins for a program that includes music from opera and Broadway along with holiday favorites. Winner of multiple vocal competitions, Wagner made her Metropolitan Opera debut during the 2024-25 season. McGrew has been heard in recital at Merkin Hall and the Kennedy Center, and in performance with the Boston Pops. Tickets are $75 (includes lunch).
