14-Vehicle Crash Involving Dump Truck Injures 2 In Sarasota Area: FL Troopers

SARASOTA, FL — Two people were injured Tuesday morning in a 14-vehicle crash on Fruitville Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

A dump truck with a trailer hit 13 vehicles that were stopped for a red traffic light at the Tatum Road intersection just before 8 a.m.

Investigators believe the driver may have suffered a medical event that caused him to lose control of the truck, troopers said.

Two people were brought to local hospitals with “non-incapacitating injuries,” FHP said.

The crash remains under investigation.
