Back To School: Sarasota County 2023-24 School Calendar
Parents and students in Sarasota County can mark the first day of school on Thursday.
SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — Back-to-school planning has been underway in Sarasota County for weeks, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day.
The first day of school for most students attending Sarasota County Schools is Thursday.
The district welcomes a new superintendent, Terrence Conner, who previously served as a Hillsborough County Schools administrator.

Sarasota County Schools begins “a new chapter of growth, learning and success” Thursday, Conner told students and their families in a video message. (Watch the full video below.)
“As we step into the new school year, let’s remember that each day presents a fresh opportunity to shine,” he said. “Let’s start the year off right and make every moment count. Together as a united family, we will excel academically and inspire greatness in one another. Our potential to achieve greatness knows no bounds.”

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change. Here is the list of dates to know for this school year:

First Day: Aug. 10
Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 20-25
Winter Break: Dec. 22 - Jan. 5
Spring Break: March 8 - 15
Last Day: May 24
