Body Found in Field; Sarasota Police Investigating

Sarasota Police are investigating after a man's body was found in a vacant field behind an apartment complex on 19th Street, officials said Thursday.

Detectives are treating the case as a homicide, police spokesperson Officer Linda J. DeNiro said in a media release.

The body has been identified as Jovonne R. Corn, DeNiro said. Officers arrived at the field in the 1800 block of 19th Street around 7:55 a.m. Thursday after receiving reports of a man lying motionless.
