FLORIDA — Brian Laundrie’s older sister, Cassie Laundrie, has spoken out about the new three-part Netflix documentary series about the death of Gabby Petito.

Brian strangled Petito, his fiancée, to death in August 2021 at a Wyoming campground while they were taking a cross-country trip.

His sister claimed she knew nothing about Petito’s disappearance during a nationwide search for the aspiring blogger. She also denied talking to her brother about leaving Gabby at a Wyoming hotel before he flew home to Florida without her, the Daily Mail reported.

Cassie revealed that she doesn’t speak to her parents, Chris and Roberta Laundrie, writing, "I’ve been non-contact with my parents for almost two years. Have fun.”

The young couple, originally from New York, lived with Brian Laundrie’s parents in North Port, Florida, before embarking on their “van life” journey during the summer of 2021.

After strangling her, Brian Laundrie left Petito's body at a campsite in Wyoming’s Bridger-Teton National Forest, where she was found nearly a month later on Sept. 19, 2021.

Laundrie returned in Petito's van to his parents' house in Florida. Multiple law enforcement agencies across the country undertook a massive investigation into Petito's disappearance, while Brian Laundrie refused to speak with them.

He later took his own life, shooting himself in the head in a Sarasota County park in September of that year.

His remains and a handwritten confession to killing Petito were found in October 2021. He left his confession in his notebook, claiming he strangled her out of mercy after she fell into a ravine and was injured.

After the Netflix documentary came out, Cassie addressed claims by a Suffolk County detective about when the police department or Petito’s family reached out to her to ask about her brother and Petito.

“No one from any family contacted me until detective [Tracey] Barry called me. Det. Barry gravely miscommunicated what I told her in the phone,” Cassie wrote in a post, the Daily Mail said.

During the search for Petito and the manhunt for her brother, when he was still thought to be alive, Cassie appeared on “Good Morning America” in early October.

She told the hosts that the last time she saw Brian was Sept. 6, 2021, at Fort De Soto Park in southern Pinellas County. He and their parents reserved a campsite there Sept. 6-8.

Cassie, her husband and their children visited her parents and brother at their campsite for several hours, eating dinner and s’mores around the campfire.

“There was nothing peculiar about it. There was no feeling of grand goodbye. There was no nothing,” Cassie said. “I’m frustrated that in hindsight I didn’t pick up on anything. It was just a regular visit.”

After learning Petito was missing on Sept. 11, 2021, she tried to get in touch with her brother, but said her calls to him went straight to voicemail.

While on the show, Cassie urged her brother to turn himself into authorities.

“I worry about him. I hope he’s OK and then I’m angry, and I don’t know what to think,” she said during the interview. “I would just tell my brother to come forward and get us out of this horrible mess.”

Cassie also said if their parents helped her brother escape, they should admit to it.

“I don’t know if my parents are involved. I think if they are, then they should come clean,” she said.
