Cat of the Week: Colby

Colby is a long-haired girl who last lived in a car with her owner. That was in August in a hot, un-airconditioned car.

It was a steamy hot day in August when Colby's owner pulled up to the in her un-airconditioned car. Inside were six cats and a Chow mix named .

All were suffering from heat stress and the effects of living in a car for too long with their owner who had lost her home. Colby was one of them.

The heat and close quarters had taken its toll. Colby was scared, skittish and catatonic. Inside the shelter, she sat in her cage and almost never moved. Poor Colby. Who could blame her?

Potential adoptive parents came and went. They never looked at her because she kept to herself in the back of her cage. We knew we had to give Colby a better home and a better chance, even if it was only temporary until her forever family could be located. So Colby was placed in foster care.

Well, you should see her now! She is still a bit shy and will hide when she's frightened but the longer she feels wanted and safe, the more she is losing her shyness. She walks all around the house and loves cuddling on the sofa. She purrs when you pet her and loves being groomed. And if you're looking for a night time companion, Colby feels right at home sharing your bed!

Oh, and did we mention Colby is a beautiful, long-haired girl of 9 years who is just waiting to blossom into the happy, loving cat she has always been?

The Chow mix Zoey just got adopted and we couldn't be happier. Colby is patiently waiting for the day when she too is welcomed into the home of someone who will love her and care for her. Can you find it in your heart to make her dreams come true?”
