BRADENTON, FL — An Illinois college student who has a rare inflammatory disease was recently granted a wish for tennis training at IMG Academy in Bradenton through Make-A-Wish Southern Florida.

Sury Bahadur’s illness affects his nose and sinuses, lungs, and kidneys, according to a news release from Make-A-Wish.

Bahadur asked for the training because he hopes to earn a scholarship to play tennis at a larger Florida university.

He and his family spent a week in the Bradenton area, where he received daily lessons on the court with IMG pros, and workshops focused on leadership, weight training, and mental strengthening.

He also trained with former French Open champion Jimmy Arias, who invited Bahadur to attend next year’s U.S. Open in New York.
