City Offers Contract to Terry Lewis

City Commission unanimously voted this morning to tender a contract to Terry Lewis for interim city manager.

Lewis is serving his last day today as interim county administrator.

The contract includes a provision for unpaid leave in March for Lewis as he had a pre-planned trip for France.

"I have no problem with the conditions he set," Commissioner Shannon Snyder said. "I say that is a reasonable contract to enter."

The commission agreed to offer Lewis a near identical contract to the five-paragraph provision he has with the county.

The pay will remain the same at $553.85 per day as well, and include access to use of a city vehicle. Contract is subject to termination by either party in 14 days.

It is now up to Lewis to respond after the city contacts him. 

The commissioners also have to consider now how they will conduct a search for a permanent manager, whether they will hire a search firm or go a different route.

Commissioners said public input will be necesssary.

"To me, this has got to be about righting the ship, healing the city and it's about relationships," Mayor Suzanne Atwell said.
