County Repairing Water Main Break In Coronado

Sarasota County Utilities have issued a precautionary boil water advisory for the Coronado subdivision in Sarasota.

Sarasota County Utiliites crews are repairing a water main break in the Coronado subdivision today, prompting a precautionary boil water advisory.

The early Sunday morning break effects about 176 residents living on Coronado Drive, Thornwood Road, Cross Creek Road and Cross Creek Drive in Sarasota, according to the county. Water service has been restored, and residents have been notified by automated phone message.

Sarasota County is issuing a precautionary boil water advisory urging affected customers to boil all water intended for drinking, preparation of food, washing of food utensils, making ice, brushing teeth or for first aid, making sure the water is brought to a rolling boil for one minute. Boiling the tap water disinfects it, destroying harmful microorganisms. Bottled water can be used as an alternative to boiling the tap water.

The county will collect a series of samples and analyze them to ensure the drinking water wasn't contaminated by potentially harmful bacteria during the service interruption. Water customers will be notified by automated telephone calls that the boil water advisory has been canceled.
