Deceased Sarasota Police K9 Memorialized With Painting

SARASOTA, FL — Sarasota police received a special painting Monday of one of their beloved K9 that died on the job two months ago following approximately six years of service to the community.

"A very special couple came to our headquarters today to deliver this beautiful painting of our late K9 Bandi," the police department posted on Facebook. "Thank you G & G"

K9 Bandi was a German Shepard born in Hungary in 2014 and had been with the Sarasota Police Department since 2016. He passed away on duty March 24, 2022, from natural causes.

Bandi and his handler, Sergeant Jonathan Misiewicz, had worked together for several years.

"Sergeant Misiewicz was honored to accept such a heartfelt keepsake of his four-legged partner," the police department said.

Bandi was certified in explosive odor detection, tracking, article search and apprehension.
