Driver Leaving FL Publix Parking Lot Hit, Killed

An Englewood man leaving a Publix grocery store parking lot Wednesday night died after being hit by another car, FL Highway Patrol said.

ENGLEWOOD, FL — A man leaving a Publix grocery store parking lot in Englewood Wednesday night died after being hit by another car, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The 56-year-old Englewood man was leaving the strip mall parking lot, crossing the northbound lanes of Indiana Avenue, around 9 p.m. and was hit by another car that was heading north on the same road.

The second driver, a 34-year-old man from the Rotonda West area, hit the car’s left side.

The Englewood man was brought to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
