Drunk Driver Slammed Into Deputy’s Cruiser: Sheriff
A 61-year-old woman is in hot water after a Thursday night crash in Sarasota County.
ENGLEWOOD, FL — A 61-year-old Englewood woman faces DUI charges after the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office says she slammed into the back of a deputy’s cruiser while he was stopped at a red light Thursday night.
According to the agency, the deputy was sitting at the intersection of Englewood Road and Englewood Isle Parkway just before 9 p.m. March 16 when Barbara Boyle slammed into the back of his car. A DUI investigator was called out to the scene and found Boyle still “behind the wheel of her running car," an email from the sheriff’s office said.
The DUI investigator noted Boyle’s speech “was slurred and thick-tongued at times,” and her “eyes were blood shot and watery,” according to an arrest report. The investigator asked Boyle if she had been drinking, the report added. She said he had consumed two vodka and iced teas, the report said.
