Reminder: DUI Wolfpack To Prowl Sarasota, Manatee Counties
The Florida Highway Patrol plans a crackdown on impaired driving over the Christmas holiday weekend.

SARASOTA, FL — Motorists with big holiday plans over the upcoming holiday weekend will want to think twice before getting behind the wheel impaired. The Florida Highway Patrol has announced an upcoming DUI Wolfpack.
According to the patrol, the detail kicks off around 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23. Troopers will be out in force until about 5 a.m. Christmas Eve. The operation will focus on roads in Sarasota, Manatee, Hardees, Highlands and Desoto counties.
“The Florida Highway Patrol organizes such details to proactively remove impaired drivers from the roadways and ultimately enhance the safety of the motoring public,” an email from FHP said. “Troopers conducting the detail will be mobile while monitoring traffic in an effort to maximize their visibility and effectiveness in removing impaired drivers from the roadways.”

As FHP kicks off its Wolfpack, AAA is also launching its Tow To Go service. The free ride home for motorists too impaired to drive and their vehicles will be available through the New Year’s holiday. For more information, check out this related story.
As always, FHP asks motorists who spot impaired or aggressive drivers to contact them by calling *FHP from cellular phones. Drivers should pull over to safe areas before making a call to the patrol.
