Trooper Rear-Ends Truck In Sarasota Area: FHP
A state trooper failed to stop for traffic and rear-ended the truck in front of it in Sarasota, Florida Highway Patrol said.

SARASOTA, FL — A state trooper rear-ended a truck outside the entrance to the Founders Club in the Sarasota area Thursday morning, Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.
The cruiser was heading west on Fruitville Road east of Deer Run Drive at the time of the crash around 6:30 a.m.

The trooper failed to stop and hit the back of the truck, which was stopped for traffic, in front of it, FHP said.
The front of the cruiser was partially wedged under the back of the truck as it came to a stop.

The truck came to a stop facing northwest partially on the westbound shoulder and partially in the westbound lane.
The trooper, a Sarasota man whose age wasn't provided, suffered minor injuries in the crash and was brought to a local hospital, the agency said.
The truck’s driver, an 18-year-old Myakka City man, was uninjured.
