SARASOTA, FL — After an overnight storm brought strong winds, heavy rains and flooding to much of Florida, roads have reopened Sunday morning in Sarasota.

Flood waters have receded on St. Armands Key, which reopened around 9 a.m. and is now “safe to drive,” Sarasota police wrote in a Facebook post. Some roads were underwater in the early morning hours.

The North Bridge, near the intersection of Siesta Drive and Seagrape Drive, which shut down , reopened to traffic exiting Siesta Key around 8 a.m.

“But we ask that you proceed cautiously,” police said. “There is still some water on the roadway and low-profile vehicles may have difficulty getting through.”

Minor flooding was also seen in Siesta Drive on the island, just west of the bridge, early Sunday.
Drivers who approach flooded roads should remember, “when in doubt, turn around and find an alternate route,” police said.
